Woohoo....we slept in!! We got up a couple of times, but fell right back to sleep. Once we were all showered and packed up, we went to the hospital to spend some time with Kaydence before we headed home for the weekend.
At the hospital, Kaylee read a handful of books to her sister. It was sweet to watch her concentrate so hard on all her pronunciations of her words and changing the tone in her voice to make the story interesting. The last book she read to her was called Koko's Kitten, and I was preparing myself for some tissues. Yesterday in the waiting room, I started reading that book and cried my eyes out because it was so sad. Larry snatched the book out of my hands and wouldn't let me finish it because I was crying so hard...lol! So as soon as Kaylee got to that page, I could hear her little voice quivering. She struggled to finish the page, and handed it to me. Larry asked her why she stopped reading it, and she started crying. I look at him and realized that all three of us were crying over the stinking book!! I asked him to finish reading it to us, and all of us continued to cry until it was done! lol. Laughing because you are crying is good therapy...and we definitely laughed about how foolish we looked.
We got home around 6 p.m. and unloaded the car. It is nice to be home, but I am really missing my baby. I know that we need the break from the hospital, but I don't want a break from her. I really don't want to come home for good until she is in my arms...but I don't know if that is going to be possible. I hope so...but I need to make sure Kaylee is taken care of too.
Update:
She was taken off her bili phototherapy machine. They think her jaundice is gone.
She is on the lowest settings possible on her ventilator.
They plan on pulling her ventilator on Monday if she continues to do well.
She is openings her eyes more and moving her limbs around.
They are planning on doing another ultrasound on her brain on Monday.

Hang in there guys, enjoy the couple days. I know you all want to be down there with Kaydence, but this will give you all a little break to recooperate some yourselves; besides, without a doubt, she's in a good hands, and she knows you all need a break as well. She's come a long way in the little time she's been here. Ruffner (sorry, can't call you Larry), everyone at work keeps asking how you guys are doing and if you need anything, let me know if you do. Let your alls faith stay strong and continue to guide you. God bless you and your family.
Kristen, Larry, Kaylee & Kaydence:
We just want you to know that your Church Family loves you guys and we are praying for your beatiful baby girl. We are spreading the news and asking for all the prayers possible. Be strong in our great God's love.
Love,
Nikki, Chris & Gage Mong
I check your page several times a day and I am so overwhelmed by the journey that this little one has taken and because of your faith and God's love, there is hope that she will pull through this!!! I can't wait for the day when we can paint her bedroom together and get it ready for her homecoming!!! I am counting on a call, LOL. My husband, Bob, even asks me about her. I know that Mandi and Jason have you in their prayers as well.
By the way, I spoke with a good friend of mine, and neighbor, who is now a learning disabilities teacher but also used to work for RESA as an early intervention specialist. She said that you could, and should make contact with the case workers at the hospital and start applying for assistance for Kaydence once she is home. You will be able to get her all the help for physical and occupational therapy that she needs absolutely free so if your insurance does not cover it all, you will not be responsible. They also provide anything in the way of special equipment, monitors, etc that she may need at home. Because it can take a few months, sometimes, for the paperwork to go through, you should start now to prepare and then she won't have to miss a beat in the transition.
Let me know if there is anything you need. I am off until Thur night.
Love, Sherrie
Kristin and Larry (and Kaylee),
We check the blog numerous times every day....it my job ever checks the web addresses that I visit, I will just have to blame it on you guys! lol We love you all! Our hearts break with every step back that Kaydence takes and praises God for every step forward that she takes. We will come and clean the house, do your laundry, fix the outlet in the basement,....anything, just give us the okay. You are the some of the strongest people that I know. I work in DC so just let me know if you need anything from home and I will take it downtown to work with me to get it to you guys. You are both doing a terrific job of taking care of each other! You are right, you have to take care of Kaylee, and yourselves too, so you can be there for little Kaydence. God love her and God bless all of you.
Stacy and Rondal
Hey guys, glad you can be home for the weekend. Kaydence is in the best of hands so take a little break and catch your breath before a new weeks starts.
Kristen, I laugh at all your comments about Larry cause I can just see him pacing back and forth checking monitors and then the blog and back again. Hopefully Kaydence will just look like her daddy and not be hyper like him.
If you guys need anything at all, let us know. That includes bringing Kaylee down for a visit.
Enjoy your weekend and get some rest.
HI guys, Sure hope you got some rest this weekend.. you are well deserving for sure! With everything you all have been through, you could probably read the TV guide and cry so it's totally understandable. I was sharing today how Kaydence vitals would improve when Kaylee would touch her or talk with her. Everyone was asking and reassurig that your family are in their prayers. We have ladies lining up if you'd like some dinners made and frozen to have on the weekends so you don't have to cook when you come home. Please accept all the help that is being offered by everyone. You guys need the rest and that is what family and friends do for one another. Just look at it this way, you don't want to rob anyone of the blessings and just enjoy knowing that you are cared and loved for. Keeping everyone in our prayers!
She is beautiful. I'm so happy for you guys and I'm also estatic about being an aunt lol. You are very blessed as I'm sure you know. Your definitely in my thoughts and prays. And remember to breathe slow and try to relax, God is on your side. Infact everybodys on your side. I love all you guys. If you need anything at all you know where to find me.
Love,
Lindsey
