Today was our baby shower at The Living Room. It was great to see everyone and celebrate Kaydence's life with them. Kaylee was even blessed with a few gifts, and that really made her feel special.
We did not go to see Kaydence today because of the shower, but we did call to get an update on her. I felt guilty for not being by her crib, but I know that she is in good hands right now. In the NICU, there is a nurse for every baby in there. This gives our little baby one-on-one attention around the clock.
Update:
They are weaning her from oxygen again. She was a little more active today than she was yesterday. The nurse told us that she will move her arms and legs when you touch her from time to time. She is still on a morphine drip for her pain, so her breathing will continue to be stressed until she is off the morphine drip. Her glucose level is unstable, so she has been given insulin to help regulate her levels. There is still no word on when she will finally eat. I am hoping to address this issue tomorrow night when we get there. If she is done her surgery, then why can't she eat something other than glucose water? It doesn't make sense to us, so we are hoping someone can shed some light on us.
I saw pictures of the tumor for the first time today. It made me a little uneasy, and I caught myself staring into the pictures looking for any and every detail. To see those pictures, and to see her now touches my heart deeply. God had his hands on her surgeons, and guided them with the knowledge and precision to remove her tumor. Larry and I are going to take "after" pictures tomorrow night and we will post the before and after's for you to view. You may find this difficult to view due to the position and size of the tumor. I will post these pictures either tomorrow or Monday.

Kristen,
It is wonderful to find out that your sweet, baby girl came through surgery beautifully and that she is being well taken care of at Children's Hospital. What a testimony to (many) answered prayers! We will continue to pray that you heal quickly from the c-section, and that Kaydence grows stronger each day. We look forward to hearing about when you are able to hold her, and the wonderful day you are able to bring Kaydence home with you. God has truly blessed your family.
Love,
The Lang family
(Tim, Kathy, Samantha and Kara)
