April 6, 2008

All of us got up for church and set out a plan for the coming week. Kaylee is staying with friends of ours for the week so Larry and I can stay close to Kaydence in DC. My house is a wreck, our laundry needs put away, and we have so many things to get accomplished before she comes home....BUT all that will have to wait for now. We tried to tidy up a little bit, and we packed our things for the week. The Ronald McDonald House has allowed us to stay here for as long as we need for just $10 a day, so we know that we will definitely be here for this coming week. Larry has to leave to go back to the academy this Wednesday. It is going to be so hard without him here. I can't drive so he has to leave me here and come get me Friday night when he gets back from Charleston. He is going to be so exhausted. Well, he still is and can barely stay awake at times, be he is getting everything done that I need.

After signing in at the RMH, we left to see Kaydence at the hospital. Wow, she looks so different, so healthy. She never ceases to amaze me with her strength and her will to pull through this. I saw her on Friday, and her body was completely limp. Tonight, she was a little wiggle worm every time we touched her. She is a very ticklish baby, and she would move her little toes around when you touched her. It immediately made me cry with tears of joy. She is amazing, absolutely amazing.

Update:
They removed her catheter
She no longer needs insulin
They decreased her amount of morphine
They decreased the amount of oxygen support

**We will keep posting updates daily this week. Larry and I are here in DC and plan on spending lots and lots of quality time with her. We are eager to see how fast she progresses in the next few days.

Kristen, Larry and the Kay's, lol.
This whole event is so amazing. God trully has his hand on every single part of this. The more I hear, the more I find myself in awe, and praising Him. I'm sitting here at my desk at work (supposed to be doing payroll) crying (these welders probably think I'm losing it, lol), and praising God. I cannot wait to meet this firecracker of a soul. She is going to have such an impact on SO SO many people, all given by God. Please let me know (I know you won't ask, but I'm telling you) if we can do anything to help. Help w/Kaylee, clean, do laundry, even clean kitty litter (I have them too remember), we would love to help out in any way we can. Much Love.

Ruffner family,
Although our family does not personally know you, we just wanted to let you know we are praying for you and your little one. We can kind of relate to your situation. Our daughter has been to Children's a zillion times. We've also stayed at the Ronald McDonald house LOTS. If you need to ask any questions or need someone to pick you up, please do not hesitate to ask. I have driven that DC hospital trip hundreds of times and know the way to the RMH. (word of warning...be careful when driving by the college on the way to the hospital...they have one of those cameras if you are speeding...trust me, I know, and that is the last thing you need to get in the mail when you get home..not fun).
A lot of people are thinking of you and sending prayers.
Please email us if you need anything.

PS...If you need support, you can set Kaydence up a caringbridge website. WE have a wonderful circle of support with the caringbridge family made up of people going through simmular situations. Here is our daughters site www.caringbridge.org/visit/kailanhaught
